Description

Join us for SMA's Beach Day (formerly Mother Daughter Beach day) in Seaside, Oregon on Saturday, May 2.

Based on your survey results and in-person conversations with students we’re working hard to update, improve and enhance the Mother Daughter Beach Day event. Most importantly please know WE WANT YOU THERE! We heard you, we are listening and we appreciate your input. We are currently making changes to the event to incorporate many of your ideas and feedback. New this year: The Beach Day is open to all currently enrolled SMA students and their special guest (see below for more info).

Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Space is limited, and a wait-list will be created as needed. The event typically sells out, so we suggest early registration! Earlybird tickets are $47/person until April 11th. Then on April 12th, tickets are $52/person until May 2nd. The fee includes lunch, beverages, and activities for the day.

We look forward to seeing you for this fabulous event!

SMA Beach Day (formerly Mother Daughter Beach Day)

Based on your survey results and in-person conversations with students we’re working hard to update, improve and enhance the Mother Daughter Beach Day event. Most importantly please know WE WANT YOU THERE! We heard you, we are listening and we appreciate your input. We are currently making changes to the event to incorporate many of your ideas and feedback. New this year: The Beach Day is open to all currently enrolled SMA students and their special guest (see below for more info). Please check out the FAQs below and contact me with any questions you may have (contact info below). Early bird tickets go on sale March 1 so watch your email to save a few bucks.

DO I HAVE TO SPEND THE NIGHT?

No you don’t have to spend the night. The Beach Day activities are planned for Saturday so a day trip is very possible. You’re also welcome to enjoy a weekend away or overnight.

ARE THERE ACTIVITES ON FRIDAY NIGHT?
If you choose to come Friday night there will be two organized activities, a bonfire with pizza and a mom’s social, both are completely optional. The address and details will be sent out to attendees and students. Exact timing and details will be included in another email as the date nears.

WHO IS INVITED TO ATTEND THE EVENT?
While the event has historically been called Mother Daughter Beach Day, students are welcome to attend with any special lady of their choice. Students can attended with their grandma, their aunt, another SMA student and her mom, their neighbor … attend with someone important to you!

I WANT TO ATTEND BUT THE BEACH IS FAR FROM PORTLAND. IS THERE A BUS OR CARPOOL OPTION?

Yes Seaside is over an hour away from Portland, that’s part of the fun. While our budget does not have money for a rental bus we are happy to work on matching up folks who are interested in the carpool option. Please indicate on the Eventbrite site (when buying your ticket) that you’d like to carpool and we’ll make that happen. Happen to have extra room in your car? Let us know and we’ll make sure to match you up with someone who needs a ride.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AT THE EVENT?

Beach Day will be a fun relaxing day away from home with your SMA community! We’ll have a wonderful guest speaker (local author who is sure to entertain), sandcastle contest with prizes, yummy lunch, fun activities (see next question for more info on that), photo booth (those cool photo strips you got at the Winter Formal) and raffle prizes.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY FUN ACTIVITES?

That’s a good question. While all of the exact activities are still being firmed up, I can promise you will have FUN (that’s our number one goal). We’ll include outdoor activities (beach volleyball and corn hole to name a few), Seaside attractions, snack fun, community service opportunities (see next question), crafts and most importantly FUN with your SMA community.

ANY CHANCE THERE ARE ACTIVITIES PLANNED THAT COUNT TOWARD MY COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS?

Yes, I am glad you asked. We are planning two community service activities. Stay tuned for more info on those options.

IS THE EVENT WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE?
The hotel has an elevator that will take you to our event ballroom. The boardwalk and city activities are close to the hotel and accessible as well. The sandcastle contest is the one activity that will be difficult to access with a wheelchair.

CAN I BE INVOLVED IN THE DAY?
Yes we’d love your added help at the event. We’re looking for a few students to help MC the event (script and assistance provided).

I AM A SENIOR, ARE YOU STILL DOING SENIOR TRIBUTES AND IF SO DO I HAVE TO GET UP AND GIVE ONE MYSELF?

Yes we are including senior tributes in the event but you are not required to give one. If you’re not feeling that part, no pressure at all!

Anything else you’d like to know, please contact me. We’d like to see you there!
